Australian Clay Court Surface Materials and Products for the Australian Climate

Since the early 1990s the owner of RAW Courts and Clay Courts Australia Brett White has been developing a European styled clay court surface and line system suitable for Australian conditions.

RAW Courts registered the name Clay Courts Australia in 2003 following the successful building of a world class clay tennis court for Tennis Australia to host the Australia versus Great Britain tie of the Davis Cup in February 2003. Clay Courts Australia represents the clay court surface and products developed under our self funded R & D program. We are passionate about products made in Australia that suit our climate and proud to support local industry and jobs.

Our innovation and dedication to building clay courts in Australia has brought us to the forefront of this industry. Our European style clay courts have been perfected in all aspects, including construction method, material gradings, surface stabilising and conditioning products, and line markings. Our showcase court was on display to a worldwide audience when we built the second only temporary clay court for Tennis Australia.  Australia successfully hosted and won the Davis Cup tie Australia versus Japan at Queensland Tennis Centre in 2010 on this court.

As well as our own red clay court products we have recognised that it sometimes is logistically too expensive an exercise to freight our products throughout Australia. We have worked with several clients to save and resurrect community or bush courts by sourcing local quarry products, laser levelling the new product and installing our lines to save time poor volunteers having to mark courts before play.   When Australia was at the forefront of world tennis our champions were playing on ‘clay courts’ built from ant bed, loam and crushed granite – Australia didn’t need to import clay from Europe then and we are still a land rich in safe resources ensuring that no matter what the budget a ‘clay court’ can be salvaged or built using local materials.
